The USA Baton under the care of Capt James Vendetti of the 109th Air Lift Wing National Guard @109thaw left left the USA Tuesday, February 4th 2014 on its first journey with planned visits to Christchurch New Zealand, McMurdo Station Antarctica, Pago Pago American Samoa, Hawaii and California.
The photos were taken after duty hours as Capt Vendetti and colleagues explored McMurdo station, Capt Vendetti said “They were taken near Scott’s Discovery Hut and one of the famous McMurdo station signs, it looks like a beautiful day there but it was around zero that day with a -5 windchill!”
We are truly grateful to Capt Vendetti for taking the American Baton on such an incredible first journey.
