Help 4 Heroes – The Peru Trek 2012

14th – 23rd September 2012

From high remote mountain trails to traditional Andean villages and Inca ruins, this is a challenging trek on steep trails climbing to 4600m in fantastic and diverse mountainous country. There is plenty of time built in to acclimatise to altitude as participants enjoy Cuzco, capital of the Inca Empire, and the surrounding Sacred Valley.

Participants will trek into the Lares region of the Peruvian Andes, passing green valleys, tranquil mountain lakes and high passes, with breath-taking views of snow-capped Andean peaks rising to just under 6000m. The route winds through many small village communities that offer a fascinating insight to traditional Andean life.

Finally, trekkers make their way by train along the sacred valley of the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes, and continue on to Machu Picchu, the legendary Lost City of the Incas perched high on the mountainside.

The Baton will be with them every step of the way.
