June 19th – 20th 2010
A team of 11 Fire Crew from Honiton Fire Station led by ex Royal Marine Richard Branson, are attempting the arduous 3 Peaks Challenge in June.
The challenge is to scale Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours, during their challenge theyʼll be carrying the Baton throughout in support of its cause.
The crew are hoping to raise as much money as they can to be shared between the Firefighters Charity www.firefighterscharity.org.uk and Macmillan Cancer Care www.macmillan.org.uk
The charities chosen to benefit were inspired by the personal battle with cancer of a close colleague of the Honiton crew, Derek Malcolm, known as ‘Jock’.
Jock has been a serving fireman in Honiton for 20 years and has recently undergone surgery and chemotherapy for stomach cancer, his colleagues are now asking the East Devon community to support them in their cause.
As an added effort to raise funds on Sat May 8th the team will be offering a car washing, table top sale, cake table and raffle at the Honiton Fire Station, if you have the time please support them and if you could donate any kind of prize theyʼt really appreciate it.
For further information about the challenge or to donate a Raffle Prize please call Richard Branson on 01404 42668 – a fundraising web site will be available soon.
