On our Facebook page you will see many photos of people proudly carrying a Baton and its Message of Conscience; behind the scenes much more is going on…

We don’t actively fundraise throughout the year but people often kindly donate to support our work. We have minimal administration costs and no salaries, any funds we are given we try to use as quickly as possible for discreet welfare support. This work is steadily going on throughout the year, often through SSAFA’s dedicated Caseworkers who refer emergency cases to us. The decision to offer support is made quickly with our trustees and we swing into action. We like to offer practical help and often provide a stepping stone for people to move on with their lives.

Examples of support we have given:

  • Train and Taxi fares
  • Hospital Consultation
  • Retraining courses
  • Emergency Food, Furniture, Carpets, White Goods, Decorating, Electrical and General Building, Clothes, Supermarket Vouchers, School Uniforms
  • Riser Armchair
  • Holidays
  • Moving Costs
  • Fencing
  • Funeral Costs
  • Utility Payments,Rent
  • Damp Proofing, Dehumidifiers
  • Renovations
  • Organising Hard Standing for disabled car parking

Behind each item on this list is the story of a veteran or family in need and we plan to tell you more in future blogs, with the permission of our beneficiaries of course.

Numerous donations to other registered charities have also been made, the Royal Hospital Chelsea is just one example..

Our most sincere thanks to everyone who donated and raised funds for us, you should be proud of what your support has achieved.
