The Baton with RAF Akrotiri for 4512.25 km

28th November 2012

The Baton with RAF PTI Cpl Dean Goddard and comrades at RAF Akrotiri and a 4,512.25 km Run, Row, Ride challenge.

Cpl Dean Goddard from Honiton has been with the charity right from the start when he took part in the launch of the Baton in November 2009 as a team member of what now is the Annual Baton Run, from RAF Lyneham to the NMA Lichfield.

As Dean was posted with his family to Cyprus earlier this year he was disappointed not to be able to take part in this years Baton Run run in June from RAF Brize Norton to the NMA, so decided to set up a virtual run with his comrades from RAF Akrotiri to the NMA – a distance of 4,512.25 km their route can be seen by clicking here.

The challenge will be undertaken in the gym by running, rowing and cycling, a Baton has been flown out to the guys at their request and will be staying with them throughout their challenge.

After chatting to BFBS Cyprus this morning, when Dean made the gym at 1400 today there was about 200km clicked up already! One of the PTI’s has a run with 30 people tomorrow and will be “encouraging” them to all do 10k each so that’s 300 before 0730!!!!

The challenge was completed in December 2012 and a huge Congratulations from us for this amazing effort!
